We are happy to welcome you on the Bryansk Time weekly's home page. It is a WWW variant of the printed paper and the first electronic newspaper in the Bryansk region, 220 miles southwest of Moscow.
The Bryansk Time (Bryanskoye Vremya) weekly was founded Nov. 1990 by independent reporters just after the Soviet Free Press Law adoption. The weekly's employees are its founders and sole owners.
Since 1990 the first Bryansk region (oblast) independent newspaper increased its circulation almost fourfold, its volume grew from 12 to 24-32 pages. Its staff consists of 10 professional writers and reporters, 4 advertisement and marketing experts and 7 "blue-collar" or "non-professional" workers.
From the very start, The Bryansk Time weekly has consistently
supported liberal reform in this country. It has been a kind of
regional headquarters for the most significant national
political campaigns - the All-Russia presidential elections,
the August-91 coup d'etat resistance, the December-93
referendum and the local legislative elections in 1994 and
the governatorial ones in 1996. The weekly promotes
privatization and private economy development; it serves an
economic tutor and offers its pages to the new wave liberal
politicians; it informs about the new economy first steps.
